Church Hurt speaks on the hypocrisy that sometimes forces people not just away from the church but alienating them and damaging the relationship altogether. Unfortunately this isn't spoke on enough nor corrected leaving people to think Jesus is as imperfect as His followers.
lyrics
First Verse:
Oh you religious? / idolize your traditions and treat it like superstition/ that’s kinda, contradicting/ I get it, that’s how you live it/ stone cold critic// just listen don’t be offended/ and don’t reject that calling we ‘spose to answer/ you missed it so quick to cancel/ wherever you standing, put your hands up/ raised like manna, that’s sour dough for you scholars/ all that lip service and still ain’t selling the product/ Christ is risen////yea, long live Him/ like a run-on sentence the Word of Gods never ending/ put apostle in prison it still fails to contain the message sent to deliver/ setting captives free, that’s sounding like blasphemy but listen closely you notice the Holy Spirit was in him/ Lord forgive us, our ism’s got us conflicted we can’t be all that different/ we just church hurt
Chorus:
Is it me? Is it you? Is it us?
What you do? Why you live? Who you judge?
It goes on and on and on and on (and on)
It goes on and on and on and on...
Second Verse:
Y’all got me started/ hearing your discussions just leaving me so broken hearted/ I fought it off for the longest/ the hardest was keeping quiet/ sabbatical on a island/ for 7 weeks I was silent/ praying to my father with wifey sitting beside me/ I had no idea that my marriage would be the trigger for all you trolls and your problems/ who tend to come out of hiding/ trying to somebody/ ironically always find it/ predictable, persecute prophets who people listen to/ justify it with scripture just jealous that person isn’t you/ evident it wouldn’t be relevant if it wasn’t true/ Jesus made it simple you pharisees oh so difficult// barely see the Works of our living God in the physical/ teachers of the Law but your school of thought lacking principle/ send you all the detention/ you ever mention my kids/ then take the fall and repent for penning songs that’s offending you/ church hurt
Third Verse:
My final act// gather all His children religion tried to attack/ ostracizing the sheep the church supposed to protect/ but instead they just weaponize it and stab them right in the back/ where they ‘spose to go when we send them off on their own?/ 40 days and nights and they wander further from home// tempted in the wild/ ain’t been to church in a while/ so Satan feeding them lies while their faith is just bleeding out/ coming undisguised/ Kingdom on the rise/ it should come as no surprise when the two of them collide/ causing mass hysteria manifested in burials, concerts, and terrorists/ self righteous & arrogant/ sinner none-the-less concealed deep up in they chests/ they coming for the best and so they better come correct/ if I hold the church accountable, don’t mean I love it less/ I’m just doing what I’m born to do, let’s see what happens next/ is the church hurt?
